Jeff will appear with School Board Member Chris Patricca at Businesspeople United Political Action Committee (BUPAC) on Thursday, September 17 to review their ongoing campaigns and look ahead at the challenges facing students, families, and teachers. This unusual dual appearance comes at a critical point in this election because BUPAC will vote on which candidates to endorse on Thursday, September 24.
Three of the seven Lee County School Board seats were up for election this cycle, and each race was crowded with multiple contenders facing incumbents. In all, ten candidates were vying for three seats.
In District 7, incumbent Cathleen Morgan defeated challengers Pete Bohatch and Curt Sheard in the August 13th primary election. This meant she won the election outright and will begin her third term in November.
In District 3, incumbent Chris Patricca faced two challengers. Brian DiGrazio was eliminated in the primary, leaving challenger Jacquelyn Perez running against Patricca in the general election in November.
In District 2, incumbent Melisa Giovannelli face three challengers. Two of the three, Charla Fox and Emory Cavin, were eliminated in the primary election. Both of these candidates immediately endorsed McCullers, who will face off with Giovannelli in the general election in November.
